Many Yankees attended Carlos Beltran’s ’80s themed fundraiser for his children’s foundation

On Sunday, Carlos Beltran hosted an ’80s-themed fundraiser to benefit his children’s foundation. According to the website, “Carlos Beltran’s ‘The 80’s Strike Back’ is a 1980’s themed fundraising gala with chic 80’s ambiance to benefit the Carlos Beltran Foundation.

His foundation promotes health, fitness and education for children from lower income families. This is Beltran’s second season playing for the Yankees, and he and his wife have hosted a fundraiser both years. He also hosts the “Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy” in Puerto Rico, and you can learn more here.

“Carlos and I, we come from a very hard working but humble family,” Jessica Beltran said. “We have been so blessed, and we are just blessed to give back.”

So many of Beltran’s teammates came out to Gotham Hall on Broadway, which proves how close the team as. Everyone said that they would support any type of event that a teammate does for a good cause. Dellin Betances and Chris Young both dressed as RUN DMC, and CC Sabathia, Garrett Jones, Brian McCann and Andrew Miller all wore 80s clothes picked out by their wives.

The foundation’s mission is to educate children by way of baseball. “This is what it is about,” Betances said. “Putting smiles on these kids faces. What he is doing is awesome.”
